API keys + preferences
Your API key never leaves your browser. We make calls to the AI provider directly from your browser using your key. Our server literally never sees it.
Add a key
Paste your provider key. It stays in this browser only — stored in localStorage. We never send it to austenite.org servers.
Configured providers
No keys configured. The agent will refuse to run until you add at least one — non-AI features still work fine without one.
Unit preference
Default display unit for every form across the platform. Each input still has its own unit dropdown — this just sets the starting choice. Backend stores values in the canonical unit regardless; switching has no effect on stamped output.
How privacy works
- · Your API key is stored in localStorage on this device only.
- · When the agent runs, your browser calls the AI provider directly. The austenite backend never sees your key.
- · The provider sees your IP + the prompt; we have no way to log either.
- · Clear your browser storage → your keys vanish. Nothing on our servers.
- · Use the encryption option on shared machines — keys are decrypted only when you type the passphrase.
